Making cake is really not as hard as it seems but more interestingly, it is not all about a few too common flavors like the chocolate or vanilla. In this recipe, I will teach you how to make Custard Cake, a recipe I borrowed from Emma’s recipes.

    Steps

    1
    Done

    The maringue

Divide your sugar into 3 portions, add lemon juice to your egg whites and whisk. Your egg whites will start to look like a froth and you add the first portion of sugar. After a few minutes add the second portion as your egg whites start to thicken. Add your last portion of sugar after some minutes and continue to whisk until the maringue forms a stiff peak.

    2
    Done

    The dough

Mix your egg yours and milk before adding the rest of the dry ingredients.

    3
    Done

Take a small portion of you maringue and mix it with your dough to loosen it up. Then either pour the dough in the maringue bowl or the rest of the maringue into the dough bowl. Fold or mix gently.

    4
    Done

Pour into baking tin or dish, I used a rectangular casserol dish. Bake at 180° for 30 minutes. Insert a toothpick in the middle of the cake and if it comes out clean then your cake is ready, if not bake it from a few minutes.

    5
    Done

    The custard

I used a quarter cup of custard powder and two cups of milk. I normally mix everything then heat it to cook. I also use a whisking spoon to avoid lumps. The custard is best make before the cake to allow it to thicken.

    6
    Done

    Assembling

When you cake cools, remove the top layer of the custard to prevent lumps, mix it well then spread it over the cake. Allow it to rest before serving and enjoy.

    7
    Done

Feel free to add any other things to the cake, like milo or even serve it with jelly, ice-cream or some fruits.
